Mineral oil can be used on metal and wood tables if the circumstances are right. Use light- and food-grade mineral oil to treat the surfaces around your home and you will keep them shiny and bright. Does this Spark an idea?
Oil on Wood
Use light mineral oil on sanded wood to finish it. Apply the mineral oil in circles continually to the wood until it won't absorb any more oil.
Oil on Metal
Rub light mineral oil in a light coat on an outdoor metal table to keep it from rusting. Mineral oil also helps preserve metal tools.
Food-Grade Mineral Oil
Use food-grade mineral oil to preserve butcher block tables or wooden counter tops that are used for cutting. Rub the oil into the wood until the wood no longer accepts oil.
Additives
Add 1/2 teaspoon of microwaved liquid beeswax to a cup of food-grade mineral oil to give a butcher block table a harder finish. Add 4 ounces of vinegar to 12 ounces of light mineral oil and use this as a wood furniture polish.
