Add 1 tsp. of liquid dish soap to a bucket of warm water. Mix well using the cleaning brush.
2Scrub the surface of the butcher block in small circular strokes. Rinse the suds off with clear water.
3Dab the surface with paper towels to dry. Allow the wood to rest for an hour before disinfecting.
Disinfecting

Mix 1 tsp. of chlorine bleach with 4 cups of water in a small bucket. Sprinkle the mixture over the butcher block surface.
5Scrub the surface with a small brush in small circular motions. Avoid scrubbing too hard, or the bleach will penetrate the wood.
6Blot the surface dry with paper towels. Buff the butcher block using a soft towel.
