How to Do Fusion Weaving

Fusion weaving is a hair extension process that involves fusing strands of hair to the client's natural hair. Attach the hair using a durable, keratin bond which is nearly undetectable when you closely match the keratin's color to the extension hair and the human hair. Depending on the durability of the keratin and the quality of care you give to the hair, fusion hair can remain in place for six months or longer. You must first choose the thermal fusion method to apply the fusion extensions at home, as the thermal fusion gun is readily available for purchase and the cold fusion system is often only available to licensed cosmetologists. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Wash the client's hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove any excess oils from the natural hair. Do not apply any conditioners or hair treatments into the hair after the wash. Blow-dry the hair or allow it to dry naturally before beginning the fusion application process.

    2

Organize the fusion hair extensions and the supplies on a clean table that provides ample room for you to work. Purchase pre-tipped hair extensions for easy application.

    3

Part your client's hair and affix hair clips to secure the hair out of your way. Begin the fusion application in the back of the client's head and work your way around to the sides. Avoid affixing fusion extensions at the crown of the client's head, as they are easily detected.

    4

Apply the first row of fusion extensions approximately two inches from the bottom of the client's hair line. Grasp a small amount of hair that is about one-fourth inch thick and place the plastic shield around the strands. Secure the shield with a hair clip.

    5

Slide one pre-tipped extension under the natural hair strands in the shield. Position the strands so the top of the pre-tipped extension is about a half inch from the scalp.

    6

Melt the pre-tipped keratin tip on the natural hair strands using your pre-heated fusion gun. Roll the keratin immediately between your thumb and forefinger to lock and secure the keratin.

    7

Repeat the process to complete the back and sides of the head. Leave about one-fourth inch of space between each fusion extension with rows about an inch apart for a natural, flowing look.
