Ideas for Centerpieces for a Picnic

Ideas for Centerpieces for a Picnic

Jazz up a timeworn wooden picnic table with colorful and fresh decor pieces. Blend casual items, such as candy and garden flowers, with elegant vases and vessels. Create a centerpiece to coordinate with a picnic party theme, such as beach or country-inspired. Use a mix of juicy colors and sweet treats to create table decor with plenty of summertime appeal. Does this Spark an idea?

Country-inspired Look

Infuse a picnic table with a casual, country-inspired vibe. A robin's-egg blue bandanna placed in the center of the table will set the stage for the decor. Fill a rectangular, rough-hewn wood box with polished stones and short stems of faux sunflowers. Set the flower box on top of the bandanna to create a vibrant blue and sunny yellow color combination.

Seashore Style

If you are hosting a beach-themed party, create a seashore-inspired centerpiece. Fill a large glass bowl with a sprinkling of sea glass, medium-sized seashells and water. Floating white and bright pink floral-shaped candles finish the look. Two large conch shells filled with tea lights will accent the centerpiece and illuminate an evening party table.

Sand Pail Accent

Transform a colorful plastic sand pail into a charming picnic table centerpiece. Sand pail centerpieces can be customized to reflect any holiday or special occasion. Fill the pail with red, white and blue jelly beans and insert unlit sparklers to create a Fourth of July tablescape. Delight children and other party guests with a pail filled with gummy worms and shiny plastic pinwheels or long-stemmed bug-shaped lollipops.

Floral Decor

Create a dainty, summer-inspired centerpiece using fresh flowers. Stick freshly picked blooms into a floral foam sphere that has been soaked in cool water for an hour; cut the bottom off of the foam sphere prior to decorating it to create a flat surface. The floral-filled sphere will brighten up a picnic table when placed on a ceramic cake stand.
