Baby Shower Table Decoration Ideas

Decorating for the baby shower you are hosting provides a way to be creative and get everyone in the mood for the baby who's in his or her way. Use your tables to display decorations that double as party favors, a gift to the parents-to-be or simply add to the theme and mood you're trying to create. Does this Spark an idea?

Favors

Use your table decorations to display party favors. Stack gift boxes in the center of the table filled with the favor of your choice. Give each guest a little rubber duck with a ribbon tied around its neck displaying the date and shower information, then add a larger duck to the center of the table. Balloons---shaped like ducks, of course---can be tied around the big ducks neck. Fill large novelty baby bottles with colorful candy (to match your color scheme), and add little favor bags on the table so guests can take some candy with them. Large novelty baby bottles can be filled with any items you'd like that match your theme. If younger children will be present, consider adding small toys such as bouncy balls and cars to the bottle or buckets to keep them entertained.

Gifts for the Parents

Make one large diaper cake---which is folded or rolled diapers along with other baby items bound together like a cake---for the gift or cake table. Or, make smaller diaper cakes to display on each table. Place a bouquet of baby washcloth lollipops (which can be given to the expectant parents) in a large baby bottle or bucket, then give each guest a small bouquet of real lollipops as a favor. Fill a large dump truck or boat with baby items for a little boy. Use a doll bassinet for a girl.

Set the Mood

Incorporate smaller items to complete your decorations. Sprinkle baby confetti around the tables. Use baby rings or pacifiers as napkin holders and burp cloths or cloth diapers as napkins. Empty baby food jars can be used as place setting decorations, and double as favors. Put a sticker on each jar with the expectant parents' names and shower date, then fill the jar with small candies or soaps. Add a tealight candle to the top in a pastel color.

Use a plain white table cloth to cover the table and place buckets of pens, markers and glitter sticks in the center of the table. Ask each guest to decorate her area with a message for the parents-to-be, then present the cloth to the mom with the shower date as a keepsake. Instead of a table cloth, each guest can be given a square to decorate. Sew the squares together to create a quilt after the shower.
