Make a table centerpiece for a birthday with items from around your home. Besides using only flowers, which can be costly, you can design an edible centerpiece, showcase photographs or mix flowers with candles. Once you decide on your party theme and decoration colors, incorporate them into the centerpiece for an attractive and cohesive display.
Instructions
- 1
Child's party centerpiece: Fill a medium-size container with an assortment of jelly beans and artistically stick jumbo swirled lollipops inside it. Add a large container filled with Skittles and a container filled with wrapped chocolates. Don't forget the scoop. The candy should match the theme of the child's birthday party, such as doubloons for a pirate party or red hots for a fireman party.
2Sweet 16 centerpiece: Trace the outline of a plate on a piece of cardboard, cut it out and spray-paint it pink. Use a white gel pen to outline a "1" and a "6" from a stencil. Glue the inside of the numbers and apply sparkle. Shake off the excess. Punch hole areas on the side of the cardboard to dangle ribbons or small sparkly beads. Put it inside a wired place-card holder. Sprinkle faux flower petals around the display to finish the Sweet 16 centerpiece.
3Adult's party centerpiece: Cut several flowering branches from a tree in your yard and insert them in a vase. Wrap the bottom half of the vase in ribbons. Write "Happy Birthday," "30th" (or whatever birthday year) and other birthday-themed messages with a marker on several balloons. Blow them up. Tie ribbons to the balloons and wrap them around the branches so they float above.
4Photo centerpiece: Print various photographs of the birthday guy throughout the year. Cut the top off a square tissue box and spray-paint it the birthday decoration color. Glue the pictures on the sides of the box. Write "Happy Birthday" in script freehand around the box. Stick a flameless, battery-operated candle inside the box, and place the centerpiece in the middle of a table.
5Flower centerpiece: Snip the stems off three roses and float the flower heads in a round fishbowl filled with water and cut glass beads. Add two floating candles to the bowl and place it on top of a 12-by-12-inch mirror tile. Place number candles for the birthday (such as 21 or 60) on top of the mirror. Splatter glass beads and flower petals around the display. Light the candles just before the party.
