The centerpieces on the tables at a wedding reception are one of the most important decorations at the wedding because they are one of the few decorations that the guests can see close up. As a result, it is important to choose memorable centerpieces. Fortunately, wedding table arrangement ideas are virtually endless and can be as individual as the bride and groom themselves.
Flowers
Traditional floral centerpieces are always in style. Whether you choose fresh-cut flowers or artificial blooms, flowers create a classic look for the reception. Typically, the flowers should reflect the colors and flower varieties of the bride's or attendants' bouquets to carry over the theme and colors of the ceremony to the reception. Ideally, the flowers selected should also match the season. For example, poinsettias with holly and evergreen accents would be perfect for a winter or holiday wedding.
Wedding Favors
Guests always appreciate wedding favors, so why not make the centerpiece something that a guest could take home? Some creative ideas include a glass fishbowl filled with colorful marbles and a beta fish or other small freshwater fish, or a small ceramic pot with a bamboo plant or cactus with colorful blooms. Give the centerpiece away by placing a "winner" tag under one chair at each table. Alternately, a bouquet of chocolate lollipops, or another edible arrangement that can be easily shared, can provide each guest with something to enjoy.
Floating Arrangements
For a different look, float a few flower blooms in a wide bowl filled with water. This centerpiece retains the classic beauty of the blooms but reduces the cost of the centerpieces because you can purchase fewer flowers. For added intrigue, include a few floating candles among the flowers. Alternately, an arrangement of colored floating candles is romantic as well as inexpensive.
Mirrors
Mirrors create a dramatic centerpiece when used as a base for a grouping of objects such as pillar candles in a variety of sizes. The possibilities are endless, as mirrors can be the base for a floral arrangement, serve as a receptacle for party favors or be combined with any other centerpiece idea that you may have. Best of all, mirrors in a variety of sizes and shapes are easily rented from shops specializing in wedding rentals so you do not have to purchase them.
