How to Make Homemade Baby Shower Centerpieces

How to Make Homemade Baby Shower Centerpieces

If you're planning a baby shower for a friend or family member, make edible table centerpieces to add a sweet touch to the space. Edible centerpieces are convenient and budget-friendly in that the shower guests can enjoy the decor as dessert as well. Using a handmade centerpiece instead of store bought table decorations is a simple way to personalize the party table. The mom-to-be can also take part of the centerpiece home with her to use as nursery decor.

Instructions

    1

Cover the outside of an 8-inch terracotta plant pot, along with a saucer, with pastel blue or pink acrylic paint. Use a gender-neutral paint color, such as green or yellow, as another option. Allow the paint to dry.

    2

Use letter-shaped stencils and contrasting acrylic paint, such as purple with a pink pot or yellow with a blue pot, to write "It's a Boy," "It's a Girl" or "Welcome Baby" across the painted pot. Allow the paint to thoroughly dry before completing the craft.

    3

Use cookie cutters to form store-bought or homemade sugar cookie dough into baby bottle, shoe, pacifier, teddy bear and rubber ducky shapes. Insert a wooden dowel into the bottom of each cookie and bake the treats according to recipe instructions.

    4

Allow the cookie pops to cool and decorate them with pastel-colored icing. Enhance the frosted cookies with small candies or decorator's sugar if you desire.

    5

Insert a piece of floral foam into the bottom of the plant pot. Stick the cookie pops into the foam to form an edible bouquet. Cover the top of the foam with mini pacifiers or baby bottles or small pastel-hued candies.
