Ideas for an Asian-Western Wedding Menu

Ideas for an Asian-Western Wedding Menu

Add to your Asian-Western wedding theme by serving a menu featuring Asian-fusion dishes. Ensure you satisfy the preferences of all of your guests by offering some dishes with optional dressings and glazes, an Asian flavor plus a more traditional Western flavor. Choose from any of these dish ideas, and ensure your wedding menu blends East and West seamlessly.

Appetizers

Start your guests off with Asian-inspired appetizers. Make teriyaki chicken with honey to add sweetness, and serve them with ripe pineapple spears to satisfy both the Asian theme and Western palettes. Offer Chinese dumplings, better known as pot stickers, as well. Wonton soup, comprised of dumplings, can also give your menu an Asian flavor. For an authentic Japanese dish, serve sushi.

Entrees

You can offer choices of entrees to ensure all of your guests will enjoy their meal, even those with more specific tastes. For example, salmon with a teriyaki glaze appeals to the masses. To be safe, you can offer a second glaze, such as egg yolk, as an option.

Kobe beef, a legendary choice from Japan, is an upscale, expensive option for a meat dish. Serve it in a ginger-shitake brown sauce or a mandarin glaze.

Duck dishes are also very popular. Pan-seared peking duck makes an excellent meat dish for Asian-Western wedding dinners.

Dessert

Choose a look for your wedding cake that speaks to your Asian theme, but ensure that your dessert table truly reflects the Asian flavors. Sticky rice with mangos will appeal to your any guest's sweet tooth when served at April or May weddings. Offer fried custard as a rich dessert, comprised of duck eggs and mashed mung beans.
