Instructions
- 1
Take everything off of the counter, and use the painter's tape and newspaper to protect back splashes, appliances and anything else you do not want to paint.
2Put on your rubber gloves and mix the trisodium phosphate with water according to the manufacturer's instructions.
3Use the sponge to thoroughly clean the counter of any stains, dust and grease. Wipe it down with a clean towel or shop cloth and let it dry completely.
4Put on your dust mask and use the sandpaper to roughen the surface of the counter. This will help the paint to adhere. Wipe away all traces of dust.
5Spray the counter with a light, even coat of primer. Hold the paint can about 10 inches away from the counter, and spray in long sweeps of a back-and-forth motion. Let it dry completely.
6Spray the primer with an even coat of paint. Keep the spray can moving to avoid drips and pools of paint. Let it dry overnight, and then add a second coat if you think it necessary.
7Spray the entire counter with clear acrylic. Two coats is good; three is even better to protect your counter and give it a little extra shine. Let the clear acrylic dry completely between coats.
