Butcher blocks are used for countertops, tabletops as well as desktops due to the smooth and shiny surface that appears to be indestructible. These are easy to make when you purchase the butcher block and then create the top for your table, counter or desk accordingly. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
- 1
Put on your safety goggles. Feed the pre-manufactured butcher block into the router and round the edges so that no sharp edges are felt. This should be completed on all four ends to ensure no snagging and a completed look.
2Apply mineral oil with a work rag to the entire table top and allow this to soak in for an hour.
3Use the fine sandpaper to go over the entire tabletop and corners so that no rough areas are felt.
4Apply a second coat of mineral oil with the work rag and allow this to soak in for another hour.
5Attach the leg plates to the tabletop using the Phillips screwdriver and the provided screws. The leg plate will attach to the bottom edge of the table top. To do this, line up the leg plate to the section of the table bottom that you wish to attach legs to. Repeat this on all four sides. Screw in the leg plates.
6Attach the legs to the leg plates by using the provided screws, and hold the legs in place one at a time while screwing them in.
