Incorporate candy into a centerpiece design for a table decoration that is sure to please kids. If you're planning a child's birthday bash or holiday party, create a sweet, vibrantly colored centerpiece that looks as good as it tastes. Your child can help you make the table decor as a hands-on creative project. Use the child's favorite candies when making the craft as a personalized touch. The candy centerpiece can also serve as guest snacks or desserts.
Instructions
- 1
Insert the end of a wooden dowel into the bottom of a 9-inch polystyrene ball.
2Cover a 6-inch terracotta plant pot with acrylic craft paint featuring the child's favorite color. Allow the paint to thoroughly dry.
3Write "Happy Birthday," or another festive message depending on the special occasion, across the pot using letter-shaped stencils.
4Cut a piece of floral foam to fit and place it into the bottom of the pot.
5Insert the opposite end of the wooden dowel into the middle of the foam inside the pot. Cover the top of the foam all the way to the pot's rim with small candies, such as jelly beans or conversation hearts.
6Insert one end of a toothpick into the middle of a soft candy, such as a gumdrop, candy corn or gummy bear. Don't pierce all the way through the candy. Be sure to wash your hands with warm, soapy water prior to handling the candy.
7Insert the opposite end of the toothpick all the way into the polystyrene ball, so that the candy sits directly on top of the sphere. Cover the entire surface of the ball with candy in the same manner to complete the centerpiece.
