How to Make Table Centerpieces Out of Christmas Decorations

To dress up holiday tables, festive Christmas centerpieces make spectacular decorations. If the cost of buying Christmas table centerpieces at the store has you reconsidering the addition of a centerpiece to the table this year, consider using Christmas decorations to make homemade centerpieces. Use on-hand decorations, such as lights and ornaments already in your stash of Christmas things. Because you craft the centerpieces from your personal supply of decorations, they coordinate with table linens and other household Christmas decor. Does this Spark an idea?

Poke through the collection of Christmas decorations that you chose not to hang on the tree or place elsewhere in your home this year. Select 12 or more glass ball ornaments to use in Christmas centerpieces. Keep in mind the colors that you would like to highlight on your Christmas table. Choose ornaments to complement them.

Select one or more decorative glass bowls to hold the ornaments. Choose any size bowls for the centerpieces. Set a large glass bowl in the center of a holiday table. Place smaller bowls on both sides of the largest bowl.

Place a 12- to 24-inch string of battery-powered Christmas lights in the bottom of the largest glass bowl.

Set the ornaments you chose in the bowl. Fill the bowl to the top with the ornaments. Place the rest of the coordinating ornaments in the smaller bowls on each side of the center bowl.

Scatter pieces of sparkly silver or gold Christmas tinsel closely around the base of each bowl.

Remove enough ornaments from the center bowl to access the switch that turns on the battery-powered lights. Switch the Christmas lights on. Return the ornaments you removed to their original positions in the bowl.
