Fall foliage and flowers make gorgeous table centerpieces for a party, reception or a holiday meal. Take advantage of the season and use colors that bring to mind chilly weather and cozy days at home. Orange, brown, red and yellow are the hallmark colors of the season. Get creative and bring them to your table by making lovely centerpieces. Does this Spark an idea?
Pumpkin Centerpieces
Incorporate pumpkins into your centerpiece for a seasonal look. Cut the top off of a pumpkin and scoop out the insides. Cut floral foam to fit inside the pumpkin. Place the foam down into the pumpkin, and pour some water over the foam to keep it moist for the flowers. Insert fall flowers and filler foliage into the foam, arranging them as desired to complete your centerpiece. You can also use other types of gourds for this. Another idea is to put a small vase inside the empty pumpkin and put the flowers inside of that.
Single Flowers
Purchase glass votive candle holders and use them as miniature vases. Take fall flowers such as orange daisies, yellow mums or roses and insert one flower (cut very short) into each votive holder. Use a lot of these to make a strong statement, and scatter leaves or candles around the miniature vases. You can also use small jars or purchase little vases at a hobby shop.
Fall Basket
Use a wicker basket as a starter for a fall centerpiece. Fill the basket with silk sunflowers, gourds, orange and yellow gerbera daisies, acorns and pine cones. Fill several baskets with different fall flowers and gourds for a bigger table and to add interest. Place an orange taper candle in between each basket and light it to give your table a warm glow. Small orange and white pumpkins will look beautiful among the fall flowers.
