Step outside of standard wedding design by creating table centerpieces that are not traditional floral arrangements. Using unexpected items that reflect your wedding theme and individual style adds a personalized element to your wedding that your guests will appreciate. Let your creativity run wild with your wedding centerpieces. Non-floral centerpiece ideas can reflect your venue surroundings, showcase your interests as a couple and highlight any original ideas you come up with.
Instructions
Fruit Centerpieces
- 1
Collect a selection of lemons and limes.
2Select glass vases in cylinder and square shapes. Ornately shaped vases will not work well with this project.
3Use your knife to cut slices of your citrus fruit. Leave half of your lemons and limes whole.
4Fill your vases halfway with water. Place your citrus fruit inside the vases. Some vases can be filled with whole fruit, while others have sliced fruit arranged against the glass to create a pattern. When arranging sliced fruit, fill the center of the vase with whole fruit to keep slices in place.
Candle Centerpieces
- 5
Choose a variety of candles. Use your wedding colors or use only white for a chic effect. Use candlesticks or votives in a variety of sizes. Work with the rest of your wedding decor to create a complementary look.
6Arrange your candles by grouping them together on the tables to create centerpieces. Arrange your candles in a linear fashion or in circles.
7Light your candles to create glowing centerpieces and romantic lighting. Ask your wedding coordinator or a member of the wedding party to keep an eye on them throughout the night for safety purposes.
Personal Centerpieces
- 8
Consider the interests and hobbies of you and your fiancee. Think about what you like to do together as a couple and individually.
9Collect items that reflect these interests. For example, if you enjoy sailing, select things like anchor figurines, ships in bottles or tie ropes into nautical knots. If your husband goes horseback riding, look for horseshoes and horse figurines. Many items can be found at secondhand stores.
10Arrange your items at the center of the tables. Consider showcasing different interests at different tables. This can also work with your seating arrangements as guests can be directed to the "sailing table" and so forth.
