If you buy a ready-made centerpiece, you could easily spend a hundred dollars or more, but these simple directions will allow you to customize a piece that will coordinate perfectly with your home while saving you money. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Making the Centerpiece

    1

Select your materials based on the look you desire. For a simple, rustic look, choose a willow wreath and white pillar candles. If you are designing a centerpiece for Christmas, use an evergreen garland and red pillar candles.

    2

Glue adornments to the wreath or garland with the hot glue gun. Add tiny ornaments at Christmastime or use miniature robin's eggs for Easter. For fall holidays, use small pumpkins, gourds, pine cones or autumn leaves. In the summer, add a nautical touch by using rope, seashells or wooden fish.

    3

Arrange the pillar candles on a candle plate. Secure the candles with candle putty that will help keep them in place. Trim wicks to 1/4 inch before lighting.

    4

Place decorated garland or wreath around the candle plate, making sure that nothing flammable is in close proximity to the candles.
