DIY Kitchen Cart

DIY Kitchen Cart

A table with a food-grade wood top that can roll around your kitchen is an invaluable asset. Most large home stores sell butcher blocks in different sizes, and a trip to the local thrift store will likely turn up a suitable table to use as a base. The result is a portable table, so you can chop vegetables by the sink, and roll the results to the stove to be turned in to dinner. Or make a salad table side, just like in a restaurant. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Turn the side table upside-down and use the drill and wood screws to attach one locking caster to each leg. Turn the cart back on its feet and lock the casters.

    2

Set the butcher block centered on the tabletop and use a pencil to mark on the underside the placement for the L brackets. The brackets will be attached horizontally to the butcher block and vertically to the outside edge of the tabletop at each corner.

    3

Screw the brackets to the table with wood screws and a drill, then set the butcher block back on the tabletop and attach it to the horizontal branch of each bracket.
