The F-2000 is a car alarm and keyless entry system designed for use with a wide variety of different vehicles. In addition to basic keyless entry functionality, the F-2000 can control a vehicle's trunk release as well as disable the engine to prevent theft. The F-2000 comes with a wire harness with all of the wires required for installation. The installation process consists of matching the wires from the harness with the corresponding wires in the vehicle. While there are a large number of wires involved in the alarm installation process, the F-2000 comes with a detailed installation manual which outlines how all of the wires needed for the alarm are connected.
Instructions
- 1
Connect the yellow ignition wire from the alarm harness to the vehicle's positive switched ignition wire. The switched ignition wire is used by a number of devices in the vehicle, including the stereo system, and is located in the vehicle's stereo wiring harness. Use the soldering iron or crimp-ons to connect the two wires. Protect the connection by wrapping it in electrical tape.
2Match the white door wire from from the alarm harness with the vehicle's positive door pin switch wire. Next, match the brown door wire from the alarm harness with the negative door pin switch wire. Consult the vehicle wiring schematic, as the location of the door pin wires differs depending on the make and model of the vehicle. Solder or crimp both connections and protect them with electrical tape.
3Locate the vehicle's constant 12 volt power wire and connect it to the alarm's fused, red wire. The constant 12 volt wire runs directly from the vehicle's battery and can be accessed from the stereo harness. Next, pair the alarm's orange parking light wire with the vehicle's parking light wire. Consult the wiring schematic, as the location for this wire is different for every vehicle. Solder or crimp both connections and protect them with electrical tape.
4Locate the wire attached to the included alarm siren and connect it with the red and white wire from the alarm harness. Next connect the gray wire from the alarm harness to the negative input on the engine disable relay. Connect the remaining violet wire to the optional trunk release relay. Both relays are included with the alarm system and should be positioned in an easily accessible location. Solder or crimp all of the connections and protect them with electrical tape.
5Complete the wiring of the alarm by connecting the black wire from the alarm wiring harness to the vehicle's ground wire. Any of the larger wiring harnesses in the vehicle will contain a ground wire.
